In 2009 we undertook a meticulous $100 million renovation of the landmark Pierre in New York. Located at one of New York’s premier addresses alongside Central Park at 5th Avenue and 61st Street, the Pierre offers residential-style guest suites with luxurious, traditional comforts. Our brief was to elevate the guest experience and offer the ultimate in luxury for discerning guests, visiting dignitaries and society events. The result is a unique space in a unique place - refined and elegant, clearly individual and yet appropriate to its milieu.
A key philosophy of the restoration was to introduce discreetly updated modern technology, carefully enhancing and subtly embellishing the building’s historic architectural styles and classic features. The result is a best in class modern hotel infrastructure that retains and respects the Pierre’s heritage and personality.
Our design theme drew on contemporary Indian artwork and materials, colourways and design elements that subtly references the Pierre’s Taj parentage - alongside traditional New York engravings. Beautifully detailed rich craft traditions inspired by favourite precious stones of Indian royalty. In harmony with local historical scenes of New York life and landmarks.
