Constance Hotels and Resorts approached JPA Design with a clear brief - to develop throughout the hotel refreshed interiors inspired by Feng Shui principles that would reflect Mauritian culture and history and that would deliver quality and longevity.

With its associations to the origins of the spice trade, the hotel defines the luxury five-star deluxe haven experience. Hidden on a sheltered natural verdant spit on the northwest coast of the island, the accommodation is set within 60 hectares of unspoilt, tropical vegetation bordered by a gorgeous stretch of white sand beach, sprawling mangroves and a protected marine reserve.

JPA’s interiors are a treat to the senses that endow the hotel with style as well as functionality to create the ultimate getaway environment.

Spice Island grace and elegance radiate throughout the public areas, each of the fine dining restaurants, the wine cellar, the luxury U Spa, and of course the guestrooms and suites. 

From within the exquisite, sensorial interiors of the Lotus Lounge and Archipel Restaurant, a colonnade of beautifully tactile stone columns frames views out to the breathtaking beauty of the sparkling azure waters of the Indian Ocean and the slate-blue tiled infinity pool.

Guests may also enjoy the wonderful adventure of reaching the seafood-focussed restaurant, Barachois, across a series of walkway bridges to their tables which are set on floating platforms in the sea.

Natural marbles, local rustic stonework, carved wooden screens, rattan, teak floors and traditionally patterned plater cornices blend superbly with the vernacular-inspired timber architecture created by Mauritian architect, Jean Marc Eynaud, to evoke a truly authentic Mauritian experience.

In the 76 guestrooms and 13 villas palettes of saffron, turquoise, olive, coral and deep magenta accents and bold floral patterns combine with colonial-style furniture and polished teak floors to celebrate Mauritius’s heritage as a significant part of the nautical spice route.

The thatched-roof villas contain bedrooms, living and dining areas and spacious, high spec bathrooms. They open out onto to private courtyards, terraces and balconies so that guests constantly connect with the wonders of the natural environment all around them.
