Aircraft Seating Design by JPA Design

Following the success of the Singapore Airlines' Business Class cabins, JPA Design were approached to address the challenge of developing a bespoke seat and cabin for the new Premium Economy Class.

A new class of travel

Working in collaboration with ZIM Flugsitz, JPA Design customised their standard BC-01 product, originally a short haul business class seat, and developed it to deliver against Singapore Airlines' exacting, premium long-haul requirements.

Style and substance

The seat boasts a 38” pitch, 8” recline and a 19.5” wide seat back upholstered in premium leathers. It was redesigned to include features such as a cocktail tray, USB charging points, water bottle stowage, headset and personal item stowage in the console. The endbay was styled to discreetly integrate the crew step and drop down mechanism. The seat back and literature pocket were completely redesigned to incorporate the class leading 13.3” monitor and to allow for extra stowage for laptops or tablets within easy reach of the passenger. The fully adjustable reading light has a bespoke ferrule and leather trimming with orange stitching which coordinates with the feature stitch lines on the seat back.
